I was fractured and genetically designed to break since my birth in 1980.
I was diagnosed with Osteogenisis Imperfecta, also known as "Brittle Bone Disease," a rare musculo-skeletal disease affecting 1 in 60,000 people. OI is best known for causing fragile bones. Due to the fragility of my bones, I have broken over 100. Still, you would be hard pressed to find any moment in my life where those bones broke me.
There was a choice to be made and it was clear. Life could either break me or shape me.
Through all the broken bones I persevered, and I thrived. I spent years "Fighting" obstacles. Until 2003 when a severe Brain Hemorrhage threatened to claim my life. After a week in a coma I woke up with a Seizure disorder. "Fighting" didn't work. It was exhausting and emotionally draining. I had to do a complete 360, and reevaluate everything I thought I knew. I had to stop fighting obstacles. I had to fall in love with them.
